Modern Slavery Act Statement

Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles (IHL) are committed to ensuring that modern slavery or human trafficking is not taking place within our charity or supply chain.

Whilst as a charity we are not considered ‘in-scope’ under the reporting requirements we want to make clear our approach to tackling these issues.

Modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, human trafficking and forced labour. IHL has a zero tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity and transparency in all business dealings and to putting effective systems and controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery taking place within the business or our supply chain.

Our Structure

IHL is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee.  We operate leisure and culture facilities and services in partnership with local authorities in England and Wales.

We do not have any trading activity outside of the United Kingdom.

Our Mission

To inspire health and happiness through participation in activities that encourage people to be active, creative and healthy.

Our Policies

We operate a number of policies to ensure we are compliant with legislation and to ensure we are conducting the business of our charity in an ethical manner. These policies include (but are not limited to):

  • Recruitment and selection policy
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policy
  • Dignity at Work policy
  • Whistleblowing policy
  • Procurement policies
  • Safeguarding policies
Safeguarding

We have a Safeguarding Policy which details fully what our team members are required to do if they have safeguarding concerns. Our staff are trained in this policy and this policy also sets out how we work with our partners to ensure that this policy is adhered to.

We are committed to promoting the welfare of everyone using our services including those in the most at vulnerable groups in the UK for modern slavery.

Our Supply Chain

Our supply chain consists of a wide range of organisations for the delivery of a broad range of goods and services.

Our supply chain partners vary in size small from local suppliers or contractors to large national companies.

Our procurement policy is designed to ensure we operate in a legal and ethical manner. We expect all suppliers to comply with all laws, regulations and our policies and terms of supply. We take a zero tolerance approach to abuse of human rights, slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour and human trafficking.

Any supplier that fails to meet our standards will jeopardise their ability to trade with us and we may ultimately cease trading with any such supplier.

Identified Incidents

No incidents of modern slavery were identified in our own charity or our supply chains during 2023/24.

Developing Our Approach

We will continue to review our approach and progress and make improvements to ensure that modern slavery or human trafficking is not taking place within our charity or supply chain.

We will protect those who speak out and act on information provided to us to safeguard against any form of modern slavery taking place within our business or our supply chain.

This statement has been approved by the Chair of the Board of Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles and our Senior Leadership Team.
