At the end of last year a burst water pipe destroyed thousands of pounds of electrical equipment in the pool plant room – responsible for keeping the water clean and safe. The pool was immediately closed following the incident which destroyed crucial equipment, including the main control panel. Specialist equipment and a full rewire was needed, but now the pool is safe and operational once more and ready to welcome swimmers back on Monday 13th May.
Neil Hutchinson, Managing Director at Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles (IHL), who manages Rugeley Leisure Centre on behalf of the Council, said:
We just want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to our customers. We really appreciate their understanding and their patience over the last few months. The damage caused was significant and the work undertaken has been extensive. We’ve pushed hard to reopen as quickly as possible while maintaining all the necessary health and safety checks needed to ensure the pool is operating safely and once again able to welcome swimmers back.
